Rhum agricole is made from fresh sugarcane juice. Other rums use a sugared solution that is mostly made from watered-down molasses. Rhum has a more diverse bouquet because of this specificity in the raw material. This is particularly true for white rum (rhum blanche), as barrel aging tends not to reduce the differences. Because fresh sugarcane juice is so susceptible to oxidation, a local rhum agricole distillery cannot produce rhum. Rhums agricoles are therefore influenced by the terroir and skilled craftmanship of the distiller.
Rum, sometimes referred to as rhum, is made from sugarcane juice and molasses. All rums can be distilled clear. Heavy or dark rums are made in traditional pot stills and undergo a slow fermentation for up to 12 hours. Modern continuous stills allow for lighter rums to ferment in 24 hours. Along with the demerara river in South America, the caribbean is the mainstay of global rum production. Virtually every region has its own style of rum.
Light rum can also be called silver or white. This type of rum is known by its clear, non-color liquid. It looks almost like water. The rum is first purified using charcoal before being placed in standard oak or stainless-steel barrels. The rum is then removed from the barrel and refined by charcoal. Light rum requires the least amount of time to age. This contributes to light rum's clear appearance. Because of its light texture and flavor, rum is well-suited for cocktails and other mixed drinks.
The term "solera" is a common expression if you even have a passing interest in rum. It may sound like the title for a sci-fi movie about solar exploration but it refers to a unique (and sometimes controversial!) method of aging used by a few mainly south American rum producers. I spoke to marlo gamora who is a veteran of dante in nyc and currently serves as the ambassador for north America for santa teresa1796, a venezuelan rum made in the solera method since 1992.
Sugar nutrients are necessary for yeast to multiply and make alcohol. Different areas of the globe produce different grains, which can then be used to ferment alcohol. The ingredients used to make distilled liquors have a lot of influence on their characteristics. There are many types of distilled alcohol. To make vodka, the Russians would use potatoes. Scotch would use barley for whiskey production. American corn was used to make moonshine and corn whiskey. To make brandy, the French would use grapes. The caribbean plantations would make rum from sugarcane. Each spirit is unique in its flavor and character. This can be attributed to the ingredients used as well as the aging process.

A venezuelan spirit aged in bourbon barrels is the santa Teresa 1796 Solera Rum. Wine director paul Sanchez of alma Cocina Latina in Baltimore says that it is an essential daiquiri ingredient. There are 57 different rums in our bar, but my favourite for a daiquiri is the santa Teresa 1796 Solera Rum. This rum is as bold as it is balanced. It is a great rum to recreate the classic daiquiri of the early 1900s. Jennings cox, an American engineer who is believed to have invented the daiquiri while living in Cuba at the turn of this century, only used one spirit in his recipe. Why not make it great?

In the beginning, rum was used as a medium for exchange for organized crime and slavery. This has led to the introduction of many types of rums on the market. Here is a quick list of the daily drinks to help you identify them.
Rum is distilled liquor from sugarcane products. It is usually made as a byproduct of sugarcane production. It includes light-bodied rums such as those from cuba and puerto Rico, and heavier, fuller-flavoured jamaica rums. Rums were first recorded in barbados records in 1650. They were known as "kill-devil", "rumbullion" or "rumbullion" but were now simply called rum by 1667. Rum was a key ingredient in the slave trade in the American colonies. Slave were brought from Africa and traded to the west islands for molasses. The molasses was then made into rum in New England, and the rum was traded to Africa for more slaves. From the 18th century to 1970, British sailors were provided with regular rum rations. The major spirit distilled in the United States' early history was rum. It was often mixed with molasses to create a drink called blackstrap, or with cider to make stonewall.

Most people are familiar with rum or have at least tried a rum coke. Rum is made by fermenting sugarcane juice and molasses, then distilling them to make a fantastic alcohol that can be used in cocktails or over ice. This guide will provide a quick overview of the basics of rum production and the equipment needed to begin fermenting and distilling.
In its initial stage of distillation, Rum is a clear liquid. Its color is determined by the age it has been stored in, which can include oak barrels, stainless steel casks and charred oak barrels. When it comes to quality, flavor and texture of rum, temperature and length of aging are important. Rum is made from sugarcane by-products such as molasses or the juice of sugarcane. Many connoisseurs love this drink for its versatility. It can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, depending on the type of rum. There are four types of rum: light, dark, spiced, and gold. Because it is mild in flavor, light rum is great for mixing into cocktails. Because it has more flavor than light rum, gold (also called amber) is usually consumed straight. Because of its strong, intense flavor, dark rum can be used to cook or mixed with other drinks. You can mix spiced rum with soda or cola, depending on the flavor and texture. There are many other types of rum available, including overproof rum (with a higher alcohol content) and premium rum.

Santa teresa 1796 venezuelan rum is made with the solera method, which consists four levels of oak barrels. The first rum is put into the first oak barrel, where it is aged for some time. We had never tried venezuelan liquors before we started our latest rum-sipping adventures. We didn't avoid rums out of ignorance, but rather because they were more readily available. We also didn't look for unique blends until now, and we are glad that we did. Santa Teresa Rum 1796 Solera is quickly becoming our favorite sipping spirit. The rum is smooth and delicious, with a sweet nose and rich oak wood flavors that show on the back palate. We also liked the bottle's packaging, which had a dripping seal wax. It's temporary, but we love fine packaging. It's the taste of the rum that ultimately wins it over. Santa Teresa Rum 1796 Solera is a fantastic sipping rum on its own merits.
